Vancouver Canucks general manager Patrik Allvin has been trying all season long to make a deal that would sufficiently upgrade their 2nd paining defense. But now, they are going in a different dirtection.
After his departure from the Edmonton Oilers, Desharnais signed with the Vancouver Canucks on a risky $4 million AAV deal, and now GM Patrik Allvin is regretting it.
Before the injuries to Hronek and Forbort, Desharnais was struggling just to crack the lineup most nights, and now, with his name being thrown around on the trade block, Allvin is going to have a major hurdle trying shed that contract of their books.
Reports came out late last week by NHL insider Elliotte Friedman that the Canucks were actively shopping around defenseman Vincent Desharnais, but with his big contract and lackluster play, the return is hard to gauge.
Friedman confirmed that Canucks GM Patrik Allvin is not looking to get any active players or prospects, he would rather stock up on draft picks, for the main purpose of shedding the contract.
Instead of making the impact many thought the big bodied d-man would have, it has been quite the opposite, appearing in only 17 games and recording just 2 assists with a +/- rating of -4.
It is going to be hard for them to get rid of him, bit if they do, the return is going to be disappointing.
