Vancouver Canucks announce a change in their schedule: Great news for the fans
The Vancouver Canucks have announced a change to their game time on Grey Cup weekend in November.
A change that fans have been calling for since the 2024-25 schedule was released by the National Hockey League has finally happened.
On Sunday, November 17th, BC Place in Vancouver is set to host the 111th Grey Cup. It marks the tenth time that BC Place has hosted the Canadian Football League's marquee event and the first since 2014.
Kickoff for the 111th Grey Cup is set for 3 pm Pacific and two hours later, the puck was supposed to drop between the Vancouver Canucks and Nashville Predators at Rogers Arena. But now, with the cooperation of the National Hockey League and Nashville Predators, the game time has been changed.
In a social media post on Friday, the Vancouver Canucks announced that their game on November 17th has been changed from 5 pm PT to 7 pm PT so fans will be able to participate in Grey Cup festivities without any conflicts. The game is set to be broadcasted nationally across Canada on Sportsnet.
"The Vancouver Canucks announced today a change in the start time for its game on Sunday, November 17, 2024, against the Nashville Predators.
Originally slated to start at 5:00pm, the game will now begin at 7:00pm PT at Rogers Arena with live national coverage on Sportsnet.
The adjustment ensures that fans will have the opportunity to also celebrate the CFL Championship game, which kicks off at 3:00pm PT, without conflict. The Grey Cup is an important event for BC Place, the City of Vancouver and British Columbia sports fans.
We appreciate the cooperation of our league partners, the Nashville Predators, and Sportsnet in making this scheduling adjustment." The Canucks said in a statement. It's great that the Canucks, National Hockey League and Nashville Predators were able to agree to this change, giving fans the opportunity to watch and celebrate the Grey Cup before they head to Rogers Arena.
