Vancouver Canucks Causing Hold Up on NHL's Trade Market
The Vancouver Canucks may have a role to play in the slow-moving trade market in the National Hockey League, with just over 50 days to go until the deadline.
We're just 51 days until the National Hockey League's trade deadline for the 2024-25 season and it's shaping up to be a big one for the Vancouver Canucks.
With rumors swirling about the Vancouver Canucks testing the market for J.T. Miller and Elias Pettersson, along with the possibility pending UFA forward Brock Boeser is moved, General Manager Patrik Allvin has his hands full.
Now, it's still early and not easy to figure out which direction the Vancouver Canucks may take when it comes to the trade deadline, but the rumors aren't going away and it seems like the team will eventually move either J.T. Miller or Elias Pettersson, more likely the former rather than the latter based on a report from Chris Johnston of TSN last night.
Vancouver Canucks reportedly causing hold up on NHL's trade market
As teams around the league begin evaluating where they're at and how they plan on approaching the deadline, it appears that the quiet on the trade front is partly the fault of the Vancouver Canucks.
During Tuesday's edition of Insider Trading on TSN, Chris Johnston shared that the Vancouver Canucks' situation with J.T. Miller and Elias Pettersson is causing a hold up on the trade market around the National Hockey League.
"Well, there's certainly a sense out there, I'd say, that this is holding things up. That makes some sense, we're talking about significant players here." Johnston said.
He added, "We might not see much action otherwise league-wide until something happens here with Vancouver, because this is such a big domino that's out there that's kind of teetering and hasn't fallen yet, and obviously this could take some more time before something happens."
It'll be interesting to see if the floodgates open on more deals around the league if a Miller or Pettersson deal is completed, potentially more featuring the Vancouver Canucks as they look to keep their playoff hopes alive..
