J.T. Miller's ice time was fairly low on Tuesday night when compared to his season average, with him also being demoted off the team's first power play unit.

It's been a tough season for Vancouver Canucks forward J.T. Miller and with rumors swirling about the potential of him being traded before the deadline in March, it won't get any easier.

It started off with him missing the entirety of Vancouver's pre-season schedule with a minor injury and then in November, he took a leave of absence for personal reasons, returning to the club a little less than a month later.

Since returning to the Canucks, those trade rumors have been amplified, Elliotte Friedman reporting earlier this month that the team is exploring the market for both him and Elias Pettersson.

J.T. Miller taken off Vancouver Canucks' top power play unit

The Vancouver Canucks were in Winnipeg on Tuesday night to wrap up a five-game road trip and after playing a season-low 13:22 on Saturday against the Toronto Maple Leafs, many were wondering what was in store for J.T. Miller as they took on the Jets.

Well, Miller's ice time didn't improve much, logging 14:37 which was the third-lowest for him during the 2024-25 campaign. The 31-year-old has been averaging 18:03 TOI this season.

During last night's game, Miller skated in 11:49 at even strength, the second-lowest on the Vancouver Canucks as only Nils Hoglander played less at 9:58.

Last season, J.T. Miller was lights out for the Canucks on the power play, with 40 of his 103 points coming with the man advantage according to StatMuse, but this season, he has just one power play goal.

While he may have had the second-highest power play ice time among Canucks forwards last night, it appears that J.T. Miller was taken off the first unit in favor of Swedish rookie Jonathan Lekkerimaki.

The National Hockey League's trade deadline is only 51 days away and at this point, it wouldn't be a shock to many around the game if J.T. Miller is ultimately moved by Patrik Allvin ahead of March 7th.
