Vancouver Canucks defenseman Derek Forbort breaks silence to the media for the first time in a while since being out with a lower body injury.

The Vancouver Canucks signed veteran d-man Derek Forbort in the offseason to essentially replace Ian Cole, but after taking a leave of absence and suffering a knee injury, he has yet been able to make any sort of impact with his new team.

It has been a rough go for Forbort, just 3 games into the season, he announced he would be taking a leave of absence after his father Keith passed away.

Then, after returning in early November, he only was able to appear in one game before he left practice early with a lower-body injury.

It was never confirmed what the exact injury he was dealing with, but he was placed on the injured-reserve that has kept him out since November 4th.

Now, he is ready to make his highly anticipated return to the Canucks.

Derek Forbort Speaks to the Vancouver Canucks Media for the first time since injury

Derek Forbort spoke to the media for the first time today after practice after it was announced he most likely would be making his first appearance back when the
Canucks face off against the Florida Panthers tomorrow.

«I'm pretty proud of the guys. It's been a lot of adversity The guys have been grinding and doing everything they can to get points.»

He was asked if he felt out of place being with the team he has only played 4 games for, but he gave an honest and hilarious answer to indicate that it is completely opposite.

"I'm sure it'll feel a little weird getting in a game situation again but as far as the day-to-day, I feel like I'm around these idiots so much, it just feels like hanging with the boys."

with all the issues on defense this season, hopefully getting Derek Forbort back on the blue line feels like the trade the Canucks have been waiting for all year.
