It appears that General Manager Patrik Allvin and the Vancouver Canucks have already found Nils Hoglander's replacement after he will miss some serious action due to undergoing lower body surgery.

With the NHL regular season quickly approaching, just over a week until the Vancouver Canucks have just over a week until they have to formally solidify their lineup, and... they're already dealing with some major injury issues.
In last Wednesday's win over the Calgary Flames, Canucks forward Nils Hoglander was forced to exit the game after taking a unseeming hit half-way through the contest.
Most were hoping that his absence from returning was due to precautionary reasons, but unfortunately, received bad news that Hoglander will be out 8-10 weeks after undergoing lower body surgery.
"General Manager Patrik Allvin announced today that F Nils Höglander underwent successful lower body surgery, out 8-10 weeks." the Canucks said on X.

Vancouver Canucks likely to use Drew O'Connor as Nils Hoglander's replacement

With the injury to Hoglander being longer than expected, Patrik Allvin was forced to find a suitable replacement for the 24 year old winger, and it appears they already found their guy.
A new report has indicated that 6'4 forward Drew O'Connor will be the likely choice, and even though that is not how he is taking the unfortune of Hoglander going down, he knows he is ready to step up nonetheless, especially with his history of playing with Kiefer Sherwood and Aatu Raty.
«Woody (Sherwood) and I play well together and we kind of know each other's game really well. We know what we're supposed to bring to the table. And Rats (Raty) is good on draws and smart defensively. And he can make plays. I like the way it (practice) went today and hopefully we can show what we can do as a line. The potential definitely excites me.

«I feel confident in my game. I can play with different players, up and down the lineup, and wherever they need me.»

The Canucks are still on the lookout for depth forward and a solution at the second-line centre position, but in the mean time, O'Connor has the opportunity to show management that he is the forward that can step in full-time even when Hoglander returns to action.
