Vancouver Canucks blueliner Marcus Pettersson opened up recently on his first month as a member of the organization following his trade from Pittsburgh on January 31st.

The Vancouver Canucks made a big splash on the trade market at the end of January, by acquiring Marcus Pettersson from the Pittsburgh Penguins following months of searching for a top-four defenseman.
It wasn't cheap to land Marcus Pettersson, along with Drew O'Connor, as the Canucks had to give up a first-round pick (acquired in the J.T. Miller trade), along with Swedish prospect Melvin Fernstrom, who's having a pretty good rookie campaign in the SHL.

Shortly after the Vancouver Canucks landed Marcus Pettersson, the organization decided to sign him to a six-year contract extension worth $5.5 million annually and that sort of commitment shows how much the organization values him.
In a recent interview with Adam Kierszenblat of The Hockey News, Marcus Pettersson opened up about the whirlwind that was his first month as a member of the Vancouver Canucks.
Pettersson said that the two-week break for the 4 Nations Face-Off helped him in a big way when it comes to getting acclimated to his new surroundings and that their road trip after the tournament was good in terms of being able to get to know his new teammates.
"It is a little different, but all the teams went through it. The first week here, we got traded and played the next day. Three out of four played the next day, and it's kind of like being thrown into the fire right away. So, that couple of weeks helped to decompartmentalize and settle in with everything that happened. We're back at it now, and feel like all four of us are getting closer and closer with everybody in here each day." Pettersson said.

He added, "Yeah, you do. You get to know teammates a lot more. You spend every day on flights and hotels and stuff like that."

In 56 games between the Penguins and Canucks this season, Pettersson has 19 points (three goals, 16 assists), 33 penalty minutes and is a minus-one.
The Skelleftea, Sweden native is going to be a big part of the Vancouver Canucks' future and will help form one of the NHL's best top-fours alongside Quinn Hughes, Filip Hronek and 2023 first-round pick Tom Willander.
