A scary moment occurred during the Philadelphia Flyers Vs. Colorado Avalanche game where NHL referee Mitch Dunning needed to be stretchered off the ice.

Incidents with NHL officials happen as they are apart of the play at all times, but they are pretty rare.

Unfortunately tonight, 32-year-old Mitch Dunning, had the misfortune to have collided very intensely with Colorado Avalanches defensemen Josh Manson, who sent Dunning flying to the ice.

Speedy recovery to 32-year-old official Mitch Dunning, who had to be stretched off the ice in Philly after a collision with Josh Manson

Even though appearing unintentional, the impact was severe as Dunning was motionless on the ice as the medical staff rushed to the ice to attend to the apparent major injury.

It was determined quickly that the official would not be able to get off the ice on his own and would need a stretcher to transport him.

Josh Manson, who clearly had no hurt him on purpose went over to Dunning while he was stretched off to give him a stick tap to wish him well.
