Insider confirms the Canucks' interest toward Rangers' Alexis Lafrenière
Lafrenière was a healthy scratch a few nights ago and it caused major consternation all around the league. Today, an insider confirmed the team's interest in the winger and the potential acquisition cost.
The Rangers are legitimate contenders and they will potentially move one of their young assets in order to bring in more experienced players that could make an impact.
Rick Dhaliwal confirmed that the Canucks had called regarding the young winger, since there seems to be discord between him and the organization. Other sources stated that the asking price would be a 1st round pick. However, if they chose to go all-in, Dhaliwal said to look at
Bo Horvat as a piece that would travel the other way around.
If they choose to move from him, the price will certainly not be cheap. As it was stated before, current Canucks AGM Emilie Castonguay, was Lafrenière's agent before pursuing a career as an NHL General Manager.
The young winger is full of potential but still hasn't lived up to it in the Big Apple. Perhaps, a change of scenery would help him. Before entering the NHL, Lafrenière was a QMJHL standout where he registered 297 points in only 173 games. This season he has 17 points in 37 outings. If the Canucks failed to sign Horvat, should Lafrenière be considered as a potential return?
