NHL makes announcement on the Dallas Stars: Canucks heavily involved
The race for the Western Conference title is coming down to the wire, with the Dallas Stars and Vancouver Canucks still in the mix to grab the top seed heading into the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
Coming into Wednesday, the Dallas Stars currently occupy the top spot in the Western Conference with 111 points (51 W - 21 L - 9 OTL), while the Vancouver Canucks are closely behind at 109 points (50 W - 22 L - 9 OTL).
On Wednesday, the National Hockey League made an announcement on the Dallas Stars, saying that if they get one point tonight against the St. Louis Blues, they'll clinch the top spot in the Western Conference. If that happens, it will lock the Canucks into a first-round series against the Nashville Predators.
However, if the Dallas Stars lose tonight in regulation, the Canucks will have an opportunity to clinch the Western Conference title tomorrow night with a win over the Winnipeg Jets.
"The @DallasStars will clinch the Western Conference's top seed with one point tonight, which would also lock-in a First Round matchup between the @Canucks and @PredsNHL." The NHL said.
The Canucks have done a fairly good job against the Nashville Predators this season, winning all three games the teams have played against each other, but have struggled against the Los Angeles Kings and had a .500 record against the Vegas Golden Knights, two opponents they could face if they win the Western Conference title.
Would you rather the Canucks finish first in the Western Conference and play the Kings or Golden Knights, or would you rather they finish second and face the Nashville Predators? Let us know what you think in the poll below!
