Olympic swimmer thrown out of the village for bad behaviour

The story about the Paraguayan swimmer has been all over sports news lately. Now, retired Olympian Luana Alonso has been banned from the Olympic Village.
The 20-year-old swimmer was banned from the Olympic Village on Sunday following a statement from the Committee Olympic Paraguay general manager, Larissa Schaerer. Schaerer cited that the two-time Olympian had not been getting along with other athletes staying in the village and that LLuana's«inappropriate behaviours» negatively affected the rest of the National Team.
Following these statements, Luana Alonso was said to be very upset and requested leave from the team and to return home-a wish granted by Schaerer. Only to have Alonso return to the village the very next day. Her social media activity after her return infuriated the general manager to the point where she actually had to tell Luana to «get lost.»
Alonso had a poor outing at the Paris Olympics, recording zero medals in her few outings in the pool. After this display, she quickly took to social media to announce her retirement at 20. Her media coverage at the games negatively impacted not only herself but on this stage; it was a significant distraction for the rest of her National Team.
Unprecedented occurrence?
In recent memory, this is the first time that an athlete was banned from the village. The Olympic Village is created at every game as a safe place for fellow athletes to train, go out to dinner, and potentially build lasting international bonds. At the end of the day, sport helps every nation worldwide come together, despite anything else going on in our world. These games were created to unite the world and focus on athletes' talents. Alonso seemed to have taken advantage of this opportunity and stayed in the village even after her elimination.
It's an unfortunate situation that has gotten all the wrong kind of attention for this young lady. Let's remember that she is only 20 years old. Barely legal age in our own country. This was a fantastic trip for any 20-year-old to take. Unfortunately for Luana, there is much annual attention at the Olympic games. Everything is magnified on the national stage. People make mistakes. People later come to regret said mistakes. LLet'shope this for Luana.
Let's hope her attention to political science is a great backup plan for if and when swimming wouldn't be enough for the young star from Paraguay. We wish her all the best in pursuing something more for herself. LLet'shope that this story ddoesn'tstay around as there are a ton of athletes competing at these games who all deserve the spotlight for what they are doing.
