Canucks Melvin Fernstrom reveals who he's excited to learn the most from
Vancouver Canucks prospect Melvin Fernstrom says he's excited to learn from Henrik and Daniel Sedin to take the next step in his career.
Fernstrom was recently participating at the World Junior Summer Showcase in Plymouth, Michigan with Team Sweden and did an interview with TSN where he shared his excitement to learn from Henrik and Daniel Sedin as he takes the next step in his career.
The Sedin twins have been working with the Vancouver Canucks organization as Development Coaches and will take on additional roles next season, including helping the team's powerplay units.
"It's very fun, just trying to take the opportunity to learn from them. You know what they've done before and so, just try to learn from them and hopefully they can help me out." Fernstrom said.
Fernstrom was also asked what it was like to be in Vancouver for the team's Development Camp and said that it's a nice city and organization and that he's happy to be there.
"I think it was good, very nice city, nice organization with many Swedes and nice history, so just happy to be there." Fernstrom said.
The 18-year-old is expected to play in the Swedish Hockey League next season for Orebro HK and it'll be a good opportunity for him to play a full year professionally in Sweden and it'll be a big year development-wise. Fernstrom is likely a couple of years away before making the jump to North America, where he'll start out in Abbotsford, so Canucks management is hoping he has a strong two years ahead.
