It's been a pretty big year for the Malhotra family. Manny Malhotra has been named Head Coach of Vancouver's American Hockey League affiliate, the Abbotsford Canucks.
Meanwhile, back in April, Caleb Malhotra, Manny's son, was selected eighth overall in the OHL Draft by the Kingston Frontenacs and the same day, he signed in the BCHL with the Chilliwack Chiefs for the 2024-25 season and would be going down the NCAA route.
On Tuesday, Caleb Malhotra made another big decision for his future and has committed to one of the top NCAA schools - Boston University, who he'll join for the 2026-27 season.
Last season, Malhotra played with the U16 AAA Vaughan Kings where he had 67 points (32 goals, 35 assists), 42 penalty minutes and was a plus-59. He went on to add 12 points in 12 playoff games.
Caleb Malhotra will be eligible for the 2026 NHL Entry Draft and it's going to be interesting to see if he'll be able to be selected higher than his father, who was taken seventh overall by the New York Rangers in 1998. That might be tough, but there's no doubt that he could be a first round pick, depending on how the 2025-26 season goes.
