The Athletic projects that a Vancouver Canucks prospect will be on Canada's roster at the 2025 World Juniors in Ottawa.

After a solid 2023-24 campaign, Vancouver Canucks prospect Sawyer Mynio was invited to Canada's camp for the World Junior Summer Showcase and left a good impression on the coaching staff and members of the media.

During Canada's intrasquad scrimmage, Mynio picked up a goal and an assist and afterwards, Head Coach Dave Cameron was pleased with what he saw from the Canucks prospect.

"I liked his game overall. We talked about wanting to be a team that gets pucks to the net and I think his goal was just that. It was a pass back to the point and he just got it to the net and we had a screen in front and he got rewarded for that too. So, then he picked up an assist too, I think he had two points tonight. I liked his game, not just in the fact that he had two points, but from the fact that it was pretty well rounded." Cameron said.

On Wednesday, The Athletic shared their roster projections for the tournament for four of the favourites - Canada, Finland, Sweden and the United States. For Team Canada, The Athletic, has projected that Sawyer Mynio will be on their final roster and apart of their defensive group for the tournament.

"On defence, Tanner Molendyk and Oliver Bonk are returnees and Zayne Parekh is a lock. After that trio, we felt five players were competing for the final four jobs: Sawyer Mynio (who played well alongside Parekh all week in Windsor and Plymouth), top 2024 picks Sam Dickinson and Carter Yakemchuk (who both had up-and-down weeks), and 19-year-olds Andrew Gibson (Predators) and Noah Chadwick (Maple Leafs)."

The Kamloops, British Columbia native appeared in 63 games with the WHL's Seattle Thunderbirds last season where he put up 53 points (16 goals, 37 assists), 66 penalty minutes and was a minus-ten.

Along with Sawyer Mynio, The Athletic projects that Tom Willander will return for his second World Juniors after taking home silver with Sweden on home ice last season.

The 2025 World Juniors will get underway on December 26th and wrap up with the gold medal game on January 5th.
