On Thursday, National Hockey League Commissioner Gary Bettman announced that the transaction has closed and Utah is now officially apart of the NHL and will begin play this fall at Delta Center in Salt Lake City. As of yesterday, all of Arizona's hockey assets including players, reserve lists, draft picks and hockey operations staff have been transferred to Utah.
Once the news was made officially by the NHL, Utah Hockey Club, as the team will be known by in their first season, unveiled their uniforms, logos and colours for the 2024-25 campaign. It's worth noting that these uniforms will only be worn during their first season. It takes quite a while to develop a brand, logos, team name, and all that comes with a new franchise, sometimes anywhere from 12-to-18 months. Once they determine their team name, then the wheels will be in motion to make their new uniforms and merchandise for the 2025-26 season and beyond.
Starting with Utah's colour scheme, they've chosen Rock black, Salt white and Mountain blue. These colours are the only thing from the current branding that will carry through to the 2025-26 season and the years following. However, if the fan vote decides to go with 'Hockey Club' or 'HC' we could see some of the branding/logos unveiled on Thursday on their uniforms in 2025, but I wouldn't count on that being the team name that's ultimately chosen.
As for their uniforms, Utah Hockey Club will be wearing black as their primary colour at home and white on the road. Both jerseys will include striping - white and blue on the home uniforms and black and blue on the white uniform.
