It was rumored that the Flames we're getting ready to move on from their centerman and Allvin was all over it; acquiring him at the NHL All-Star Break, a month before the deadline. To acquire Lindholm, Allvin gave nothing less then five prized asset. Roster player (Andrei Kuzmenko), two draft pick (2024 1st and 4th) and two unsigned prospect.
Since the trade came through, two important development have been announced. It was announced earlier that Hunter Brzustewicz had signed his entry-level-contract after indicating that he wouldn't sign in Vancouver. Today, it was just announced that the other young prospect, Joni Jurmo, had also inked his entry level deal.
Jurmo was the Canucks' 3rd Round Pick in 2020 and even though the Canucks had been attempting to sign him, he never made the transition from Finland's top league to North-American hockey. The Flames on their end, we're able to inke the young Finnish defenceman to two years at $850K cap hit:
Looking back at it, Allvin gave a first, a fourth, two prospects who wanted nothing to do with the Canucks. Along with it, he gave up Andrei Kuzmenko who was only a shadow of the 39 goalscorer he was last year. Since being traded, Kuzmenko managed 5 goals and 3 assists through 16 games. He's now expected to end the season below 40 points.
