The New York Rangers have traded former 2nd-overall pick Kaapo Kakko to the Seattle Kraken.

It does not come to the shock of many that Kaapo Kakko has been traded, his name has been involved with trade rumors since the start of the 2024-2025 NHL season.

The Rangers are in full swing in trying to shake their roster as this deal comes just days after they traded their captain, Jacob Trouba to the Anaheim Ducks.

The full deal is as follows; the New York Rangers will receive Will Borgen, a 3rd-round pick and 6th-round pick in exchange for Kappo Kakko.

New York Ranger Fans Unhappy with GM Chris Drury for Trading Kaapo Kakko to the Seattle Kraken

Kakko has definitely been a major disappointment for being such a high pick in NHL Draft, where he only has 4 goals and 10 assists for 14 points through 30 games with the Rangers this season, which actually puts him on pace for the best season if his career.

Although not panning out as of late, at just 23-year-old, fans are upset with general manager Chris Drury, for trading him away this early, and especially for getting so little in return.

When it comes to landing Borgen, it seems lime Chris Drury is happy with the return as he has been targeting the young right-shot d-man for a while now.

As a result, the Vancouver Canucks have missed out once again on getting a right-shot defense that has potential to be a legitimate top-4 in the NHL.

Drury has been targeting Borgen for some time. He's a right-shot defenseman that Seattle selected from Buffalo in the 2021 expansion draft and developed into a top-four option for the backend.

Borgen is just 1 season removed from recording a career-high 25 points for Seattle.
