LATEST | Former top ten pick calls it a career: Signs contract in Europe
An 8-year NHL veteran has decided to call it quits in North America after he failed to received contract offers.
The former Anaheim Ducks' 10th overall pick, Nick Ritchie failed to convince the St. Louis Blues that he still belonged in the NHL. He's now decided to continue his career in Finland where he just signed a contract.
TSN's Chris Johnston broke the news earlier:
'Nick Ritchie has signed with Oulun Kärpät in Finland. He attended #stlblues training camp on a PTO and was released before the season.''
Over the span of his eight year stint in the NHL, Ritchie will have played 481 NHL games collecting 186 points along the way. The winger spent the majority of his time with the Ducks, but splitted the last seasons with the Bruins, the Coyotes, the Maple Leafs and the Flames.
