The National Hockey League's Department of Player Safety has come to a decision on Anaheim Ducks forward Trevor Zegras following an incident during their game in Detroit on Sunday.

The Vancouver Canucks have dealt with a multi-game suspension of their own this season, when Tyler Myers was handed a three-game ban back in January and now the Anaheim Ducks will be without one of their top forwards for the next week.

Anaheim Ducks forward Trevor Zegras handed three-game suspension

On Sunday afternoon, the Anaheim Ducks continued their road trip with a stop in Detroit to take on the Red Wings and late in the second, Trevor Zegras thought he avoided being in hot water following a dangerous hit on Michael Rasmussen.
Rasmussen was carrying the puck into the neutral zone with under three minutes to go in the middle frame and after he dumped it down into Anaheim's zone, Zegras comes across the ice and hits the Red Wings forward in the head, leading with his shoulder.
Surprisingly, there was no call on the play, which understandably left Detroit Red Wings head coach Todd McLellan very angry with the officials, while Rasmussen was forced to leave the game and did not return.
After a hearing early on Monday afternoon, the National Hockey League's Department of Player Safety announced that they've given Trevor Zegras a three-game suspension for interference.
This is the first suspension of Trevor Zegras' National Hockey League career and he'll miss Anaheim's upcoming games against Buffalo (tomorrow), Vancouver (Feb. 27th) and Buffalo (Mar. 1st).
Zegras, a native of Bedford, New York will be eligible to return to the Anaheim Ducks lineup on Tuesday, March 4th against the Edmonton Oilers.
"Anaheim's Trevor Zegras has been suspended for three games for interference against Detroit's Michael Rasmussen." the NHL's Department of Player Safety announced.
In 34 games this season for the Ducks, Zegras has registered 16 points (seven goals, nine assists), 12 penalty minutes and is a minus-seven.
