It's Halloween and players across the National Hockey League are celebrating the holiday by dressing up in their costumes, but for New York Rangers forward Vincent Trocheck, his has raised the eyebrows of fans on social media.
In a now deleted post on Instagram, Vincent Trocheck's wife, Hillary, shared an image of the costumes the two decided to wear this year. Vincent and Hillary Trocheck dressed up as Menendez brothers, while holding Nerf guns in the image posted to her account.
For those who aren't too familiar, the Menendez brothers have been back in the spotlight after a Netflix documentary was released earlier this month. Erik and Lyle Menendez were convicted in 1996 of the murders of their parents which occurred six seven years prior in 1989.
The Menendez brothers are set to receive a new trial according to CBS after they claim there's evidence to show that the murders were done in self-defence. TMZ is reporting the hearing for the Menendez brothers, which will see the Los Angeles District Attorney ask a judge to rescind their life sentence and resentence them from murder to manslaughter, is set to be held in early December, with a possible release date of December 11th.
Given the controversial nature of the situation, it's not surprising to see fans take to social media to share their thoughts on the Trocheck's Halloween costume. Some fans saying that they're angry and disgusted.
Other fans were confused to see such backlash of Vincent Trochek's costume, with one user on X saying that it's no different than people who used to dress up as American outlaw Jesse James or Bonnie and Clyde.
