It was a battle of the Hughes brothers at Rogers Arena on Wednesday night as Jack, Luke and the New Jersey Devils were in town to take on Quinn and the Vancouver Canucks.
Head coach Rick Tocchet made some changes to the lineup before puck drop, with Arturs Silovs getting his first start between the pipes since October 15th against the New Jersey Devils. However, it wasn't the start that Silovs or the Canucks were hoping for.
Silovs allowed six goals on 22 shots in a 6-0 loss to the New Jersey Devils, while his counterpart, former Canucks netminder Jacob Markstrom, stopped all 20 shots he faced for his first shutout of the season.
After the loss, Vancouver Canucks head coach Rick Tocchet spoke with reporters and was not happy with how his team played, especially their coverage on the odd-man rush.
In the last couple of games, the Canucks have not looked good and something will need to change as they head out on a three-game road trip starting on Saturday night. There's no doubt that Kevin Lankinen will get the start for Saturday's contest, but some changes need to be made, especially to the forward group. It would be a big boost if Dakota Joshua is able to return and he's been making some big strides, even shedding his non-contact jersey at practice back on Tuesday.
The Vancouver Canucks will look to get back in the win column on Saturday night as they begin a three-game California road trip against the San Jose Sharks. Puck drop is set for just after 7 pm PT on CBC and Sportsnet.
