As the Vancouver Canucks and General Manager Patrik Allvin continue their search for a top-six forward before the trade deadline, a new name has emerged as a potential target.

According to Bruce Garrioch of PostMedia, the Ottawa Senators are expected to ask 32-year-old Vladimir Tarasenko to waive his no-trade clause before March 8th's deadline.

"Bruce Garrioch of Postmedia reports "the expectation" is the Senators will ask pending unrestricted free agent Vladimir Tarasenko to waive his no-trade clause, and notes the team has also " tried unsuccessfully to move winger Dominik Kubalik."

After leaving the New York Rangers in the off-season as an unrestricted free agent, not many offers reportedly came in for Tarasenko. At one point, it appears that he was heading to the Carolina Hurricanes, but eventually he landed a one-year deal with the Ottawa Senators.

Tarasenko's time in Ottawa hasn't gone as the team had hoped or expected, but with the Senators' season going the way it is, nearly everyone on their roster has underperformed. In 37 games, the Yaroslavl, Russia native has 28 points (ten goals, 18 assists), ten penalty minutes and is a plus-nine.

Should the Vancouver Canucks target Vladimir Tarasenko before the trade deadline on Friday, March 8th? Let us know what you think in the poll below.
