LATEST | Jake Guentzel's preferred destination revealed: Could be play massive part in his trade
The Vancouver Canucks have nearly 24 hours to go if they want to add anything else to their roster ahead of the NHL's trade deadline for the 2023-24 season.
Over the course of the past few weeks, the Canucks have been linked to several names, especially as they search for another forward and one name that has come up quite consistently is Jake Guentzel of the Pittsburgh Penguins.
The cost to acquire Jake Guentzel is reportedly very high, but as the hours trickle down, the Penguins could get desperate and lower the price before 3 p.m. ET tomorrow.
While there are numerous other teams interested in landing Jake Guentzel, including the Carolina Hurricanes and the New York Rangers, it's been reported by Nick Horwat, that the Vancouver Canucks are his preferred destination.
"It sounds like the Vancouver Canucks would be Jake Guentzel's preferred destination" Horwat said.
It'll be interesting to see if the Penguins and Canucks will be able to make things work here. There are plenty of connections with the Penguins organization with Patrik Allvin and Jim Rutherford previously working for them, so there's no doubt they'll be trying aggressively to get a deal done. However, if the price is still too high later today or tomorrow morning, the Canucks may pivot and look elsewhere.
In 50 games, the Omaha native has 52 points (22 goals, 30 assists), 14 penalty minutes and is a plus-nine.
