Canucks linked to one of the league's top defenceman
The Canucks are set to have quite the busy season with all these contract negotiations, and as they walk the step to form a cup contender, the summer is expected to be just as busy once free agency comes. Allvin will have to re-sign Pettersson to the most significant contract the organization's ever seen. However, there are still all these support players in Ian Cole, Tyler Myers, Matt Irwin, Pius Suter, and Teddy Blueger, who are all set to be unrestricted free agents by the end of the summer.
ONE OF THE LEAGUE'S BEST DEFENCEMAN TO HIT FREE AGENCY?
Rick Dhaliwal, a close insider to the Canucks dropped a big piece of information and linked the team to one of the top expected free agents.
Devon Toews, Stanley Cup winning Defenseman with the Avalanche and Cale Makar defensive partner is set to hit the market. Coming off a four-year deal worth $16.4M, there's a lot of uncertainty in his future in Colorado since they've already spent a ton of money on Mikko Rantanen, Gabriel Landeskog, Nathan Mackinnon and Cale Makar.
On Halford and Brough, Dhaliwal hinted that he would move Heaven and earth to get the Defenseman to Vancouver:
'Dhaliwal: If I'm the Canucks I move Heaven and earth to get Devon Toews [if he turns UFA]. ''
Coming off back to back standout seasons in which he collected 57 and 50 points, he'd be a great pillar to add to the Nucks' young defensive core. With the team's cap issues, however, it seems like a stretch.
