CANUCKS ISSUE STATEMENT REGARDING ADAM JOHNSON'S TRAGIC PASSING
As many other teams did, the Canucks shared their tribute to the former NHLer Adam Johnson. The beloved player acquainted many Canucks throughout his career, and he'll forever be remembered:
We join the global hockey community in sharing our thoughts, prayers and condolences to Adam's family, friends and former teammates.
Sam Lafferty, who considered Johnson a friend, knew Johnson from the time they spent in the Penguins' organization and the time they spent on the same line. Lafferty notably assisted on Johnson's lone NHL goal. The Canucks' centerman was given the opportunity on the special relationship he held with him:
"Johnny was a great guy. Fun to be around. I played a lot with him...Unbelievable player. One of the best skaters I ever played with."
"You think back to those good times you had together. You grieve, you remember him. It gives you a perspective that nothing's permanent."
Once more, we wish to send our deepest condolences to the friends, family members and beloved of Johnson. This is yet another reminder that life can be taken at any time. Be careful out there.
