J.T. Miller has had a very strong start to the 2023-24 season, notching 23 points in the team's first 15 games.

While on the Spittin' Chiclets podcast this week, one of their crew members, Pasha Eshghi, made a pretty wild claim regarding J.T. Miller, saying that he's overrated because he's a 'powerplay merchant'.

"I'm not a fan of J.T. Miller. I will admit that he is overrated. He is not that efficient. At five-on-five, he's slow. He's a powerplay merchant. He's unreal on the powerplay. Hell of a shot. But he gets all of his points on the powerplay. Last year, he had 99 points. Half of them were secondary powerplay assists." Pasha said.

Ryan Whitney jumped into the conversation to add that secondary assists are just as valuable and that they still matter.

Miller currently sits tied for second on the Vancouver Canucks' roster in points and second in goals, only being Brock Boeser. Like Ryan Whitney points out, secondary assists matter just as much as a primary assist and while J.T. Miller does get a lot of secondary assists and points while on the powerplay, they all count the same and all contribute to the team's success.
