Rick Tocchet indirectly called out Andrei Kuzmenko's play on Tuesday when he sat him down against the Predators in Nashville. The coach wanted to dress the "best possible lineup to win" and felt Kuzmenko wasn't it.

SCRATCHED IN BACK-TO-BACK OUTINGS?

Tocchet confirmed earlier that Kuzmenko would watch the game from the press box again. After the team dominated and shut down the Preds on Tuesday, Tocchet didn't want to jinx the team's streak:

"Tocchet says that #Canucks will go with the same lineup as last game, meaning Kuzmenko will be a healthy scratch again"

After scoring 39 goals in 2022-2023, Kuzmenko is having a rough time adjusting to Tocchet's systems and asks. There is no doubt that the Russians have high-end offensive abilities, but Tocchet is trying to make a two-way player out of him while building a cup-contending team.

Kuzmenko's agent came out earlier and addressed the situation. According to him, there's constant communication between the two parties, and everybody still wants to work in the same direction. It'll be interesting to see how it unfolds from there.
