The Canucks took a swing that may turn into a home run in the 2018 Draft. In the 7th Round, the Canucks landed the America, Aidan McDonough and ever since he transitioned to the big leagues, he's been excellent.

MAN AMONG TEENAGERS

The annual rookie tournament just ended, and McDonough added a 3rd goal in just as many games. After a short NHL stint last season, McDonough is proving that the improvement he brought to his game over the summer is making him a real option for the Canucks' big club.

The Athletic's analyst covering the Canucks was on Donnie and Dhali earlier today, and he discussed what he had seen from McDonough:

McDonough's wrist shot was a real threat as the winger converted three opportunities on the power play:

''McDonough gets his third powerplay goal of the tournament.

He once again leverages his wrist shot, this time on the rush. Look at his mechanics -- arms in front of the body, immense downforce on the stick -- his power is impressive.'' #Canucks

The winger is previewed to start the season in Abbotsford, but his performance during the tournament, matched with a strong camp, may just be what he needs to crack the roster right away.

The Canucks currently have an overload on the wings, but McDonough's current progression could push them out of Vancouver.
