Last night, the Vancouver Canucks hosted the Los Angeles Kings at Rogers Arena and were hoping to extend their win streak to four games. The team went down 3-1 after two periods and, despite adding a third-period goal, weren't able to complete the comeback and fell to the Kings by a score of 3-2.
During the loss, Vancouver Canucks captain Quinn Hughes picked up an assist and jumped ahead of two names on the team's all-time points list by a defenceman and now sits in third place.
With his assist, Hughes now has 322 career points, surpassing former Canucks blueliners Jyrki Lumme and Dennis Kearns, who both had 321 during their respective times with the organization. Hughes is only four points behind in surpassing Mattias Ohlund for second all-time in team history.
Hughes, 24, is having the best season of his National Hockey League career so far, setting a new high in points with 81 as of Tuesday. There's no doubt Hughes will be one of the three finalists for the Norris Trophy and should be considered the favourite given his season.
