The Boston Bruins are coming off easily one of the worst seasons in recent memory and are now looking at their first rebuild in years, and one name they could be going after is a Vancouver Canucks break out star.
Like the Vancouver Canucks, the Boston Bruins missed the 2025 Stanley Cup Playoffs and are looking to make some major upgrades this offseason in order for the same fate to not repeat itself.
Now, a new report has indicated that the Boston Bruins are interested in upgrading their core down the center of the ice and could target a 202402025 breakout star in
Pius Suter..
Boston Bruins could push to land Vancouver Canucks center Pius Suter
With the Bruins shedding the contract of
Brad Marchand and others at the NHL deadline, they have a ton of cap space to acquire some talent, even willing to slightly overpay for key members of the future core.
After trading away multiple forwards this season, the Bruins should be looking to improve their top nine this summer. When looking at players who could hit the free-agent market this off-season, one forward who should grab their attention is Vancouver Canucks pending UFA Pius Suter. - Michael DeRosa
In 81 games for the Canucks, he worked his way to the 1st line, setting new career highs with 25 goals and 46 points.
The Bruins are desperate for offensive production and if Suter is able to repeat another season like in 20240-2025, he will be a major asset for years to come.
Apparently the number that he is looking to secure is in the ballpark of 4-5 years worth $5 million AAV.
Would you sign Pius Suter at $5 million x 4 or 5 years?
Obviously it helps that this is a contract year for Suter to have his best season if his career, but the only thing holding him back from securing the bag of this caliber is that the chances of him being a one and done is quite high.
Before this year, the 28-year-old center has never scored more than 15 goals and 40 points in 5 seasons.
If a team like the Boston Bruins take the chance, who knows what will end up a few years down the line, but out of all the teams looking to upgrade their roster, they have the available cap space to take that risk.
