The New York Rangers made a pretty significant mistake in a trade they completed with the Vancouver Canucks back at the end of January that involved J.T. Miller.

In late January, following weeks of rumors of a reported feud with teammate Elias Pettersson, the Vancouver Canucks pulled the trigger on a trade with the New York Rangers that saw J.T. Miller return to The Big Apple.
In exchange, Patrik Allvin acquired defensive prospect Victor Mancini, forward Filip Chytil and a 2025 first-round pick, which they flipped which they flipped to Pittsburgh that night for Marcus Pettersson and Drew O'Connor.

New York Rangers made big mistake giving up Victor Mancini

Victor Mancini came to the Vancouver Canucks organization with 15 games of NHL experience after making the New York Rangers' roster out of training camp in his first full season of professional hockey and despite not much experience at this level, he's looked like a five-year veteran on the ice.
With Vancouver's 2024-25 campaign over after being eliminated from Stanley Cup Playoff contention one week before the regular season concluded, Victor Mancini, along with some of the Canucks' other rookies, headed down to Abbotsford for the start of their playoff run.
During last night's winner-take-all Game 3 against the Tucson Roadrunners, AHL affiliate of Utah Hockey Club, Victor Mancini raised a lot of eyebrows with the confidence he had on display early in the second period.
Mancini received a pass at the top of Tucson's zone and instead of firing it on net right away or looking for a teammate, he skates in, dekes around two Roadrunners players to create an unbelievable scoring chance, however his shot was turned aside by Jaxson Stauber.
For someone the size that Victor Mancini is, being able to skate that well and create chances like that isn't very easy and it just shows you the compete level the 22-year-old has.
Mancini showed in his 16 games with the Vancouver Canucks since the trade that he wanted to get better on a nightly basis and he did exactly that, and he's certainly putting himself in a great position to make the team's opening night roster out of training camp this fall.
The New York Rangers did what they had to in order to land J.T. Miller, a player they coveted for some time leading up to the trade on January 31st and in seven to ten years down the line, they might come to regret trading Victor Mancini, who will inevitably become a top-four defenseman in the National Hockey League.
