Vancouver Canucks prospect Anthony Romani participated at the World Junior Summer Showcase with Canada last week and in the intrasquad scrimmage, found the back of the net, something he did on 58 occasions with the OHL's North Bay Battalion last season.
Romani showed to Canada's staff that he could be a valuable option for them this winter at the World Juniors in Ottawa and if he's able to produce as much offense as he did last year, there's no doubt he will be on the roster and play a top-six role with powerplay time.
TSN's Craig Button was asked recently if he thinks Anthony Romani will be on Canada's roster for the World Juniors and said that he wouldn't rule him out and the Canucks prospect's task for the next three months is to put himself in the mix by having a strong start to the season in the OHL with North Bay.
Romani, 19, could end up being a steal for the Vancouver Canucks, who took him with the 162nd overall pick in the 2024 NHL Entry Draft. The Pickering, Ontario native led the entire Ontario Hockey League in goals during the 2023-24 campaign, while finishing second in points behind Sudbury's David Goyette.
In 68 games during the regular season, Romani put up 111 points (58 goals, 53 assists), 20 penalty minutes and was a plus-43. He followed that up with four points (three goals, one assist) in three games during the OHL playoffs.
