Vancouver Canucks General Manager Patrik Allvin has received praise from ESPN for his off-season moves.

Patrik Allvin was quite busy in the first couple days of free agency, bringing in a top-six forward with offensive upside, adding forward depth and also shored up the team's defensive group for next season.

Allvin was able to do so with limited cap space and lost two of the team's biggest additions from the 2023-24 campaign - Nikita Zadorov and Elias Lindholm, both of whom signed with the Boston Bruins.

ESPN's Ryan S. Clark and Kristen Shilton shared their grades for each team around the National Hockey League for what they were able to do in free agency and for the Vancouver Canucks and Patrik Allvin, they were given a 'B'.

Overall grade: B. "Canucks GM Patrik Allvin was faced with trying to enhance a division champion roster with limited cap space. It's why they lost players such as Lindholm and Zadorov, but used that money to get players who could possibly impact their entire lineup.

DeBrusk gives them another 20-goal scorer, while Heinen gives them someone who has reached double-digit goals four times. It's the sort of secondary scoring that should help the Canucks if they're in another tight playoff series."

Along with Jake DeBrusk, who the Canucks inked to a massive seven-year contract, Patrik Allvin brought in Danton Heinen, Derek Forbort, Kiefer Sherwood, Vincent Desharnais, Jiri Patera, Nathan Smith and Daniel Sprong. All of Patrik Allvin's signings will have an impact on the Canucks' roster next season and it'll be interesting to see how two of those forwards perform - Danton Heinen and Daniel Sprong. Those could end up being sneaky signings for Patrik Allvin as both are capable of reaching the 15-20 goal mark.

It's going to be a big season for the Vancouver Canucks and expectations are sky high after what they were able to accomplish last season. The goal, at least for the regular season, has to be to repeat as winners of the Pacific Division.
