With nearly one month to go until the NHL's trade deadline for the 2024-25 season, it doesn't look like Vancouver Canucks General Manager Patrik Allvin is slowing down anytime soon.

It was a busy weekend for the Vancouver Canucks off the ice after trading J.T. Miller to the New York Rangers and landing Marcus Pettersson from Pittsburgh, but the team isn't done, especially when it comes to adding to their roster.

NHL insider says Vancouver Canucks searching trade market for centreman

Losing a player with the skill J.T. Miller has is never easy and it's always tough to replace what someone like him brings to the lineup, but Vancouver is going to attempt to do so before the trade deadline, and may carry into the summer.
On Tuesday's edition of "Early Trading" on TSN, NHL insider Pierre LeBrun shared that the Vancouver Canucks and General Manager Patrik Allvin are looking at the trade market to add a centreman.
"Well they need to replace him [J.T. Miller] and listen, that's easier said than done. It's not necessarily something that the Canucks can absolutely guarantee that they can do before March 7th. Let's be real, going out and trying to find a top-six center is the priority for the organization I would say between now and puck drop next fall. It's hard to go find those guys." LeBrun said.

He added, But, that is a big priority for the organization. They're going to continue to make calls around the league to see what's out there. By the way, we just spoke about Dylan Cozens. The Canucks have talked to Buffalo about Dylan Cozens. A lot of that we believe was part of the Elias Pettersson talks and now we think Vancouver has taken Pettersson off the market for now, they want to see if he responds to Miller being traded. But nevertheless, that would be the type of player that would help Vancouver as well. So we'll see where this goes, but the Canucks have cap flexibility now. They would like to go acquire a center now and we'll see if and when they can get that done."

As Pierre LeBrun mentions, it's never easy to find a top-six centreman and if we're being realistic here, it seems more likely that a deal will get done on that front in the summer rather than before the deadline on March 7th.
Now, Patrik Allvin could go out and get a stopgap player such as pending UFA Brock Nelson, if they are still in the playoff hunt later this month, but we'll have to wait and see what happens with the Vancouver Canucks at the deadline, which is only 31 days away.
