Canucks goalie Thatcher Demko unveils new Zombie mask for 2024-2025 season
Vancouver Canucks superstar goalie Thatcher Demko is still watching from the sidelines as he rehabs an injury that has no timetable for his return. Amidst of all of that, he unveiled a special new zombie mask that he will be rocking for the 2024-2025 season.
In a special partnership with Apple and artist Travis Michael, Demko is one of 7 goalies goalies to try this new platform. The others netminders are Jacob Markstrom, Joseph Woll, Jeremy Swayman, Sam Montembeault, Stuart Skinner, and Linus Ullmark, who have all decided to have their masks designed on an iPad.
The design strays away from what Demko would normally have, it still features a variation of Johnny Canuck on the side of the helmet, but this time around he is painted as a zombie.
You can also see the Rocky Mountains and an image of Demko as a kid in a Roberto Luongo jersey if you look carefully.
From day one, iPad has been a game changer for me,» said artist Michael in a press release. «Being able to draw up a design, send it to a goalie, get their feedback and make edits. It's sped up the process so much.» - Travis Michael
Unfortunately for Canucks fans, it will be some time before they get to see that new mask in action as Demko has yet to appear in a game this year as he continues to rehab and heal a serious knee injury he suffered in last year's playoffs.
ailment is so rare that doctors couldn't find another hockey player who had ever experienced it, making setting an exact timeline for his return difficult.
