Canucks goalie Kevin Lankinen absolutely robs Michkov & Luchanko with potential save of the year
As the Vancouver Canucks fell to the Philadelphia Flyers in the second game of the regular season, their record now drops to 0-0-2. Despite the loss, the star of the show came in the form of goalie Kevin Lankinen who may have a save of the year candidate on his hands.
With
Thatcher Demko still on the injured list with no sight in returning any time soon, and
Arturs Silovs struggling in the first game of the season, the Vancouver Canucks elected to give the nod to newcomer Kevin Lankinen.
Lankinen made his debut with the Canucks tonight (October 11th) after spending the last two seasons with the Nashville Predators.
Despite getting the loss in shootouts, the star and hero of the game was Lankinen who impressed with his calm presence and unbelievable ability to make high danger saves.
Clearly the positive tonight was that Kevin Lankinen gave the Canucks a calming presence in goal tonight. Much needed going forth till Thatcher Demko gets back
In the end, he made 29 saves on 31 shots in which it could have been a lot more, for if it not due to his rob on Michkov and Luchanko.
Kevin Lankinen - Save of the year candidate?
With 8 minutes left in the 3rd period, and with a 2-2 tie, Lankinen absolutely saved the Canucks as he robbed rookies
Matvei Michkov and
Jett Luchanko to keep the game squared away, and fans are going ballistic on social media.
It did not just stop there, Lankinen also continued his great play in OT as he made a great, calm save on captain
Sean Couturier.
Unfortunately, the Canucks did get the loss, but it was quite the game to watch for newcomer Kevin Lankinen, the team is in definitely goods hands until Thatcher Demko returns.
