Two games in, as a fan, the Canucks' performances have been disappointing to say the least, they play strong for one, one and a half periods and then crumble late in the game.
The top six forwards looked completely out of it, but an explanation could be that it could take a while for new additions of DeBrusk, Sprong, and Heinen to find their chemistry.
Of course it is easy to pick on Elias Pettersson, despite getting an assist in his first game of the season, the effort and caliber of play is not translating on the ice. Just two games in though, it would be unfair to pileout more heat on him, even though there are $11.6 million reasons to do so.
Tocch visibly looked dejected as he addressed the media post game, he spoke about how he needs his top players to step up and wants to see more out of them in term of converting opportunities into goals.
When asked about Elias Pettersson and his lack of production he simply called him out and stated that he made a mistake on the power play that caused a big goal against.
At the end of the day, there is an entire season left to go, but as it stands right now, the Canucks are falling short of their big expectations coming into the 2024-2025 season.
