On their X account on Sunday, the Vancouver Canucks shared how Quinn Hughes put himself into the team's record books after a strong season that saw him lead all NHL defencemen in assists and points.
In their post, the Canucks is the second player in franchise history to record 70 or more assists in a single season, joining Henrik Sedin. He also set a new franchise record for most points and assists by a defenceman.
The Vancouver Canucks organization is 54 years old in 2024 and there have been some pretty special players that have been apart of the franchise and Quinn Hughes cemented his name in history this season.
After finishing the season with 92 points (17 goals, 75 assists) in 82 games, Quinn Hughes climbed the team's all-time points list by a defenceman and now sits second in franchise history with 333 in 365 games played. Hughes only trails Alexander Edler, who had 409 points in 925 games with the franchise. With Hughes only 76 points back of tying Edler, there's a very good chance we could see him hit that mark next season.
It could be a very big week for Quinn Hughes and the Vancouver Canucks organization. The NHL Awards are set for Thursday night and if Hughes wins the Norris Trophy, not only would it be his first, he'd become the first defenceman in Vancouver Canucks history to take it home.
