A former National Hockey League defenseman believes that Vancouver Canucks head coach Rick Tocchet deserves to be in the Hockey Hall of Fame.

During his career as a player and now a coach, Rick Tocchet has had a notable impact on the game of hockey and was even recognized last season by the NHL as the winner of the Jack Adams Award as the league's best coach.

Former NHLer says Rick Tocchet should be in the Hockey Hall of Fame

Rick Tocchet finished his career in the National Hockey League with 952 points in 1,144 games and won the Stanley Cup with the Pittsburgh Penguins in 1992 and again with the Pens, twice, as an assistant coach in 2016 and 2017.
Former National Hockey League defenseman Jordan Schmaltz, who played 42 games with the St. Louis Blues, took to social media recently to say that Rick Tocchet deserves to be in the Hockey Hall of Fame.
"How the f**k isn't the Real Rocket Tocchet in the HOF? 18 career Gordie Howe Hattys, 950+ points, 180 fights, 2 mugs as a player + 2 as a coach. Over 40 years in the national. Scarborough's finest. I'll hang up 📞📞📞" Schmaltz said on X.
"How is the Real Rocket Rick Tocchet NOT in the Hockey Hall of Fame?

Aside from what he's done in the NHL as a player, Tocchet had plenty of success on the international stage, winning the Canada Cup - now World Cup of Hockey - twice.
As a head coach in the National Hockey League, with the Tampa Bay Lightning, Arizona Coyotes and Vancouver Canucks, Tocchet has a record of 274-253-84 in 611 games.
The Scarborough, Ontario native no doubt had a solid career in the National Hockey League as a player, but it's unlikely to be enough to get him into the Hockey Hall of Fame, however if he's able to win a couple more Stanley Cups, this time as a head coach, either in Vancouver or elsewhere, then it'll be a conversation to have.
