The Hockey community is once again in mourning at former Vancouver Canucks draft pick and long time British professional hockey player Rob Trumbley has sadly passed away at 50-years-old.

It's with great sadness we have heard of the passing of former Edinburgh Capital Rob Trumbley.

Trummer iced with the club back in season 2001-2002 in the BNL. In 32 games he scored 13 goals, 26 assists for 39 points picking up 105 penalty minutes.

Trumbley was born and raised in Regina Saskatchewan and had the same dream that all young children who grew up in Canada had, wanting to one day be a superstar NHLer.

Although he never played in a single NHL game, Trumbley got further than the majority of hockey players as he was drafted by the Vancouver Canucks with the 195th overall pick in the 8th round of the 1994 NHL Entry Draft.

A dream come true nonetheless, the hard nose forward bounced from the American Hockey League (AHL) and East Coast Hockey League (ECHL) during the two season in the mid-to-late 90's.

After his dream of making the NHL was getting further and further away, Trumbley took his talents overseas to play in the United Kingdom for the Newcastle Cobras in the BIS.

He would spend the rest of his career in the UK playing for seven clubs over the course of 8 seasons and even had the honor to dawn the "C" and be the captain of the Newcastle Vipers.

Known for his enforcer style of play, Rob Trumbley had an incredible impact on the hockey community in Britain and will be missed greatly by his teammates, friends and family.

He was 50-years-old.
