Vancouver Canucks to Honor Los Angeles Fire Department Tonight Against Kings
As Vancouver welcomes the Kings to town on Thursday, the team has announced they will be honoring the Los Angeles Fire Department amid the wildfires raging in LA.
The Vancouver Canucks are set to take on the Los Angeles Kings tonight for their second of three games against each other during the 2024-25 season, but tonight's game will have some added significance given the situation in California.
Vancouver Canucks to wear helmet decals, 50/50 dedicated to LA wildfire relief
In a post on social media, the Vancouver Canucks announced that they will be wearing a Los Angeles Fire Department decal on the back of their helmet for tonight's game against the Kings to honor the brave firefighters. Meanwhilewhile proceeds from the 50/50 draw will go to LA wildfire relief.
"Tonight, #Canucks will wear LA City Fire Department helmet decals to honour the brave firefighters who have worked tirelessly against the California wildfires.
Proceeds from tonight's @Canucksforkids 50/50 raffle will support emergency response efforts for those impacted by the fires."
Los Angeles has been dealing with deadly wildfires over the last week and a half, with the latest figures from CBS as of 12 pm PT on Thursday state that 25 people have lost their lives, 12,000 structures have been destroyed and 60 square miles of land is charred.
Tens of thousands of residents in Los Angeles County are under an evacuation order and while the strongest winds have eased up a bit right now, with a curfew in place in the Palisades and Eaton fire zones, two of the worst hit areas, from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. PT.
the National Weather Service says that more dangerous conditions are expected next week.
