A new development showcases that there is no reason why superstar forward Brad Marchand would not consider joining the Vancouver Canucks this offseason.
For 16 seasons, Brad Marchand has been one of the most hated, controversial but dominating players in the NHL.
Every team dreads playing against him, but every team would surely welcome him on theirs any day of the week.
After being shockingly dealt by the Boston Bruins at this years Trade deadline after spending his entire career with them, he made his debut with with the Florida Panthers on Saturday, which has analysts and insiders speculating where he will end up during the offseason.
Looking for a contract in the realm of 3-years at $7 million AAV, there are 5 teams that make sense for
Marchand to land, but it seems they are forgetting about the cap heavy Vancouver Canucks.
Should the Vancouver Canucks push to acquire Brad Marchand in the offseason?
According to
The Hockey News there are
Five Teams Brad Marchand Could Play For Next Season such as the Boston Bruins, Colorado Avalanche, Pittsburgh Penguins, Toronto Maple Leafs and the Tampa Bay Lighting, but they forgot about one team that can be a prime destination in the Vancouver Canucks..
Although 37-years-old, Marchand is not looking for a mega long-term contract that will break the bank for Patrik Allvin and the Canucks, but it is also his style of play, leadership on and off the ice and experience that can be invaluable for a young team like the Canucks.
It has no question been a disappointing and uncharacteristic season for the Canucks, especially with high expectations coming into the year after winning the Western Conference in 2024.
With a ton of Cap space, and the organization on the rise, adding a proven winner, leader and 2-way powerhouse in Marchand could really take them to the next level.
People see the decline in production from Marchand this season, but they forget he had 3 major offseason surgeries that have taken him back a half-step.
With a full offseason under his belt, he can easily get back into from and score 65-80 points again with out question.
If Florida does not re-sign him, general manager Patrik Allvin and the Canucks will have quite the presentation prepared in order to try and sway him to join a team that has a legitimate chance at the Stanley Cup if they play anywhere reminiscently close to 2023-2024.
