With the latest comments and moves made by head coach Rick Tocchet, it appears that his time as the head coach of the Vancouver Canucks is coming to an end. With John Tortorella available for hire, should they make him the next coach of the Canucks?

After their devastating loss to the Winnipeg Jets this afternoon (Mar 30th), all chances of the Vancouver Canucks making the 2025 Stanley Cup Playoffs were basically snuffed out, especially due to the lack of interest and mistakes by Rick Tocchet.
It appears Tocchet has given up, making a terrible too many men penalty and refusing to pull Thatcher Demko in the final minutes of the game to try and tie the game up at 3.
It showcases a lack of want and passion by the head coach, which already reinforces the idea that he is out the door this offseason.

Should the Vancouver Canucks hire John Tortorella as their next head coach?

Just a few days ago, the NHL was shaken up at the fact that the Philadelphia Flyers fired legendary head coach John Tortorella after the better part of three seasons behind the bench.
Rumors are already flying that the flyers are lining up to try and hire Rick Tocchet this offseason, but why shouldn't the Canucks do the same with Torts?
He is a hall-of-fame head coach who won a Stanley Cup with the Tampa Bay Lighting back in 2004, and has many years still ahead of him.
Bruins Insider.com made a great point on why he should be their next head coach, which easily translates to why he would also be a good fit for the Canucks.
hired by the New York Rangers as head coach during the 1999-2000 season and has since coached 1,620 games in the NHL. He's one of the winningest American head coaches with a record of 770-648-37 only second to Peter Laviolette with 742 all-time wins. - Joshua Deeds

There is no doubt that Tortorella has a way at turning losing teams into winning teams by changing the culture.
With Tocchet's message falling on deaf ears right now and the Canucks not making the playoffs, it is time for a change, and there is no one better on the market to whip up Vancouver into shape.
