Vancouver Canucks Make Really Tough Decision With 24-Year-Old Goalie Artur Silovs
After stepping up to the plate in last years playoffs, It has turned out to be a very tough season for Artur Silovs, not living up to the expectations he set for himself last season.
Even more so when it was fully expected that he would be the starting goalie while
Thatcher Demko started the season on the long-term injured list.
Managing just a 2-6-1 record in 10 games for the Canucks this season, he holds an abysmal .861 SV% and 3.65 GAA.
If the topical save percentage and goals-against average weren't bad enough, Moneypuck has Silovs ranked 66th out of 72 netminders with 10 or more games played this year with a -10.2 goals saved above expected.
Arturs Silovs demoted back to the AHL with the Abbotsford Canucks
He clearly is just not ready to be an everyday NHLer as he was sent down fairly quickly to the American Hockey League when offseason signee
Kevin Lankinen blossomed into a star netminder.
Now, he is jumping up and down from the AHL and NHL on emergency situations, but it appears they have solidified who their two goalies will be if they make the playoffs.
Vancouver Canucks general manager Patrik Allvin announced that Silovs will be heading back to the minors as Both Lancinin and Demko are back to full form health wise.
General Manager Patrik Allvin announced today that G Artūrs Silovs has been assigned to Abbotsford (AHL).
