Here's Why Canucks Fans Were Right About Former Vancouver Canucks Stars Nikita Zadorov & Elias Lindholm
The Vancouver Canucks lost two big names over the offseason to the Boston Bruins, but there start of the season with their new team is more rocky than smooth.
The Boston Bruins signed Big d-man Nikita Zadorov and 2-way center Elias Lindholm both to contracts, the former to a six-year, $5 million AAV deal and the latter to a seven-year deal worth $7.75 million annually. Many feel that the Bruins over paid for the pair, and with how the season has begun, they could be right.
Zadorov has struggled both offensively and defensively to begin his stint with the Bruins as he has just 4 assists and 0 goals and a +/- rating of +3 in 14 games. Big-Z is not necessarily known for his offensive prowess, but this is not characteristic of his ability, and his head coach Jim Montgomery agrees.
«I don't see him pressing,» said Bruins head coach Jim Montgomery about Zadorov today. «I think overall he's finding his way in our systems, and I think at times he looks like he's understanding exactly what we're trying to accomplish, and at times he looks like he's not.»
More disappointing, their big ticket start Elias Lindholm has been less than stellar as well, and fans have already started to turn their back on him. It looked like in the first few games he was going to have a major bounce back season as he scored five points in his first three games. However, Lindholm has been ice cold since then, recording just 3 assists and 0 goals over his last 11 appearances.
In conclusion, Zadorov was really good for the Canucks last season he'll find his game, but Lindholm was a big draw and the team gave up a lot for him in the trade, but it seems that the contract is not going to be as good as the Bruins thought.
When they signed the deal this offseason, Canucks fans were extremely vocal that the Bruins overpaid for the two players, that they were worth way less and if that is what they were demanding, the are happy to part ways. From the looks, of it, Canucks fans were right about their assessment.
