The expectations for the 20-year-old netminder and 2022 5th-round pick were not that high entering this season. After a strong showing in training camp and pre-season, he clearly exceeded those expectations. Young was originally supposed to start the year in the AHL, but unfortunately he was
sent down right to the East Coast Hockey League. The demotion wasn't due to his ability, but because of the lack of roster space as the AHL already have their goalies slots solidified, but after 2 games in the Coast, they could not ignore Young any longer.
