There's been lots of heat on Patrik Allvin and the Canucks following the Elias Lindholm trade due to the way he's been performing and the fact that he hasn't been able to remain at the top of his form dealing with an injury.

Through 22 games, Lindholm has only managed 9 points, even though his defensive play is as good as hoped. He hasn't been able to perform up to expectations offensively. We recently learned that he was playing through an injury, and since then, Lindholm has been the name every insider has had an update on.

On the Jeff Marek Show earlier, Elliotte Friedman didn't have an update on his health and the source of what was holding him back. However, he did confirm that Lindholm was in perfect shape when the Flames traded him, here confirming that the Canucks did not acquire a player that was already hurt:

- I don't worry about Demko at all. They have a plan for him.

- I think if there's anything to worry about there, you're just wondering about Lindholm. It's been hard to pin that down. What's his health?

- He wasn't damaged goods when the Flames traded him.

The Canucks have depth offensively, and they'll figure out a way to get through the end of the season without Lindholm's presence. However, if they genuinely intend to make a deep playoff run, he'll be an essential piece on all 200 feet of the ice.

We're still waiting on an update that could either pin down what he has or perhaps give a more precise idea or timeline of his injury. We'll keep you posted with the latest information on Lindholm as soon as it's made available.
