The Vancouver Canucks have appeared to avoid a worst-case scenario when it comes to veteran defenceman Tyler Myers, who left Friday's game against the Philadelphia Flyers with an apparent leg injury after getting tangled up with Joel Farabee. During last night's 'Saturday Headlines' segment on Hockey Night in Canada, Sportsnet insider Elliotte Friedman gave a positive update on the status of Tyler Myers as the Vancouver Canucks are set to embark on a three-game road trip.
Friedman said that it's good news for the Vancouver Canucks as Tyler Myers will be with the team on their road trip, which begins on Tuesday in Tampa Bay and as of right now, is only listed as day-to-day.
If Tyler Myers is unable to play on Tuesday night, it's likely that the Canucks will have both Noah Juulsen and Vincent Desharnais in the lineup. Desharnais was scratched on Friday night after a not so great game on Wednesday against the Calgary Flames. With Desharnais scratched, Rick Tocchet inserted Noah Juulsen into the lineup to play on the third pairing with Derek Forbort.
We'll have to wait and see what the coming days bring for Tyler Myers and if his undisclosed injury is healed enough to where he'll be able to play at some point on the road trip. Given that we're only two games into the season, the Canucks aren't going to rush Tyler Myers back and risk him aggravating that injury any further.
