The Vancouver Canucks played their second game of the 2024-25 season on Friday night as they hosted Matvei Michkov and the Philadelphia Flyers at Rogers Arena. It was a special night for the Canucks organization and fans in attendance as they honoured the career of defenceman Alexander Edler.
During the first period, Vancouver Canucks defenceman Tyler Myers went to make a play on the puck and got tangled up with Philadelphia Flyers forward Joel Farabee. Myers' left leg appeared to get twisted as Farabee fell to the ice and needed to be helped back to the Canucks' bench and down the tunnel to the dressing room.
Shortly after the puck dropped for the second period, the Canucks announced that Myers would not be returning to Friday's game.
The Canucks would go on to lose the game in a shootout and afterwards, a lot of the talk, understandably, was about the veteran blueliner Tyler Myers and how his is doing.
Canucks head coach Rick Tocchet said to reporters that the team isn't sure of the full extent of Myers' injury, but they're hoping that they dodged a bullet.
After Saturday's practice, Rick Tocchet provided a bit of an update on the Houston, Texas native, saying that he was in a lot of pain last night and is listed as day-to-day. He added that Myers will accompany the Canucks on their three-game road trip, which kicks off on Tuesday night against the Lightning in Tampa Bay.
Hopefully for the Canucks, Myers will be able to play at some point on the team's road trip and thankfully they don't seem too concerned about the severity of his injury.
