Allvin has already done quite a bit this off-season, most notably re-signing Filip Hronek last week, followed by the Teddy Blueger extension yesterday and finally found a trade partner for Ilya Mikheyev, that being the Chicago Blackhawks.
However, a number of unrestricted free agents remain unsigned as of Thursday morning and among those is veteran defenceman Tyler Myers, who's spent the last five seasons with the Vancouver Canucks.
In a post on The Athletic on Wednesday, NHL insider Pierre LeBrun have an update on Tyler Myers' talks with the Vancouver Canucks and it doesn't sound like great news at the moment.
LeBrun said that both sides remain engaged in contract talks and will chat again at the draft this weekend, but things haven't progressed and there's a good chance he hits the open market at 12 pm ET on Monday.
Myers, 34, has the best season in terms of point production since joining the Vancouver Canucks back in 2019. In 77 games, he recorded 29 points (four goals, 25 assists), 77 penalty minutes and was a plus-16. He went on to add just one assist in 16 games during the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
After turning it around in 2023-24 following a couple of poor seasons, Myers knows that he has an opportunity to go to the open market and earn more than the Canucks are likely able to offer him. Once Monday rolls around, the Canucks may be without three of their top-six defenceman from last season, if they all hit the open market - Ian Cole, Tyler Myers and Nikita Zadorov.
